Sitting in my office on Saturday night was like watching Vegas pawn stars. What were some of these guys worth? We’ll talk about that in a minute..
One thing is certain. I know what the women were worth. 14. That’s how many seconds it took Ronda Rousey to defeat arguably her biggest MMA challenge year to date. Cut that in half and 7 is where I think she ranks in the pound for pound best Mixed Martial Artists in the world right now. Men and women.
As you know I follow women’s boxing as much as anyone out there. It’s good that Holly Holm has Cecilia Braekhus waiting when and if she ever gets to fight Ronda because it’s not even going to be competitive.
The fan’s problem. Too fast or too slow? Now the criticism of Rousey is much the same as it was of prime Mike Tyson. The show’s too fast. Well grab a box of tissues. Ronda’s just that damn good.
On other side of the spectrum people criticize Floyd Mayweather for not finishing fights and boxing brilliantly. Fans are never gonna be happy. Same. Floyd is just that damn good.
Back to pawn stars. I expected more of many on the card and less from others in regards to the vets. I expected more effort from Tibau and much less from Koscheck. Surprise. Kos came to fight. No shame in going out the way he did. Only Tibau knows how much effort he brought. Salazar’s eye is for the doctors to figure out but didn’t care for the no contest. "Means"..it’s in the name. He looked exceptional.
Torres vs Fullen was one of the more competitive bouts on the card. One thing for certain. Athletic Commissions might be in the right. Cocaine is not a performance enhancing drug or it’s abundantly clear Colombia’s only UFC representative Torres never did any because he was out of gas in the late rounds in a bout he had in his pocket.
And last. Friday night’s Bellator card. Criminal. The judging continues to be criminal. There’s no other word for it.
