"Sometimes wrong; never in doubt. Always on time."

Grudge matches are what make MMA one of the most exciting sports to bet on, with bad blood and revenge fueling that action. And fight fans finally get one of the most long-awaited rematches when Cain Velasquez faces Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 in Las Vegas on December 30.
Renowned MMA oddsmaker Joey Oddessa was quick to react to the signing of this fight, and opened the MMA betting odds on Velasquez at -175 favorite in the second meeting with Werdum, who upset the then UFC heavyweight champion as a +450 underdog at UFC 188 back in June 2015.
“If recent history or statistics are any indication of what will happen in Las Vegas, they would appear to favor Cain Velasquez,” says Oddessa. “Cain has avenged the only other loss of his UFC career against Junior dos Santos, not just one but two times, while looking even more impressive in each outing.”
Velasquez has fought just once since dropping his title to Werdum, defeating Travis Browne via first-round TKO at UFC 200 this past summer, improving to 14-2 with 12 knockouts in his professional MMA career.
Werdum didn’t hold on to the heavyweight strap very long, losing his first title defense to Stipe Miocic at UFC 188 in May 2016 via first-round KO. He has also record a victory over Travis Browne since that loss, winning via decision at UFC 203 in September, bumping his professional record to 21-6-1 (6 KOs).
“Now Fabricio Werdum is presented an opportunity to silence any critics who said in the aftermath of his loss to Miocic that his win against Cain Velasquez was a fluke,” says Oddessa, noting many of the factors that could have helped Werdum pull off one of the biggest upsets in recent UFC history.
“The Cain Velasquez -175 price (for UFC 207) gives merit to the excuses for his loss to Werdum in Mexico City,” Oddessa continues. “The altitude, layoff, lack of preparation were all factors taken into account in the pricing of the rematch. A healthy Cain Velasquez should avenge the second loss of his UFC career and line himself up for a title shot against current champ Stipe Miocic.”
