Commitment to Excellence

Commitment to Excellence | Blog post by Joey Oddessa

Couple huge weeks on deck. Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and the best time of year for wrestling fans. March Madness. NCAA wrestling Championships process started last week with conference championships.

Dan Gable said ‘once you wrestled everything else in life is easy.’ With about 15 years invested on the mats I’ve got to agree. Your success is usually directly proportionate to your commitment to excellence. Same goes with my current line of work. If you outwork me you deserve my money. But I know that and humbly it’s not happening. I create it so I own it and I don’t hate anything, except losing. I try to eliminate the word hate from my vocabulary except in this instance.

Anyways, next weeks gonna be one of them weeks and I’m looking ahead in anticipation of what I feel is the greatest sport in the world. Wrestling. And like most things in this world today you can wager on it. MMA scouts should be in attendance looking for the next big thing.

Not necessarily the winner of the tournament but the guy who left absolutely nothing on the mat when he had nothing left to give after giving it every bit of his 100%. That’s the guy I want in my gym. The guy who just fell short but not from lack of effort. Same with the business world. Give me the guy who wants to achieve greatness but has yet to get his label of being the best.

I could go on forever but I’ve got work to do in my own commitment to excellence. I’ll talk more about it the coming days.
